Elena Jiang is a director, cinematographer, and writer. She is currently a senior at Brown University studying English and International and Public Affairs.
She has spent her past three years at Brown falling in love with film. She firmly believes that there is no feeling like being on set, camera in hand, chasing the beauty of the diner-parking-lots and snow-blanketed-streets of Providence. She is committed to combining her background in nonfiction writing and cinematography to make films that cast the real world into new light, centering hope, coming-of-age, and the surreality of the everyday. In May 2026, her short film directorial debut, “KUMIHO,” premiered at the beloved Avon Cinema before winning Best Horror at the Mount Vernon Independent Film Festival, Best Short Film Finalist at the Oniros Film Awards, and Best Women Filmmaker Short at the USA International Film Awards.
As of the time of writing this (August 2026), she just finished a fulfilling summer at Optimist, an Emmy-award-winning documentary studio based in Los Angeles. She spent her time making pitch decks, executing a theatrical campaign, and editing mutli-cam sequences for their various projects.
She has an undying love for New York City, born from her favorite movie, Past Lives. She hopes to move there after graduation to pursue a career in narrative film development and production.
